The project "Voices for Justice" was co-financed from European funds and has been implemented in seven countries of the European Union (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia and Lithuania). The Human Rights Forum was responsible for project activities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The project has been launched as an accessible website for victims of crime with disabilities to communicate legal rights and procedures in a clear and simple way.
The accessible website has been launched in the Czech Republic and Slovakia under the name "za hranou" - "beyond the edge". The website follows easy-to-read guidelines for content and WCAG 2.0 accessibility guidelines for design elements, choice of colors and fonts.
The aim was to provide lists of legal rights, support centers, and explain who is who in criminal proceedings to victims of crime with disabilities.
Victims of crime with disabilities are often not aware they are victims of crime and hence not informed about their rights and procedures.
An accessible website that explains different crimes in a storytelling way, provides lists of legal rights in a simple language and navigates victims to the support centers. Handdrawn images and iconography is used widely across whole website to ease the navigation.
I was directing the project by producing content as per European easy-to-read guidelines, and designing solutions following WCAG 2.0 accessibility guidelines.
